The Oconee Fall Line Technical College Foundation hosted its 12th annual golf tournament Saturday, May 30, at Twin City Country Club in Tennille. The event brought together 20 teams and 80 participants for a day of friendly competition, community engagement and support for student scholarships.
Golfers competed in an 18-hole, four-man scramble, with teams vying for the tournament’s top prize: a round of golf for four at one of four premier courses at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro.
The tournament began with a welcome from OFTC Foundation Vice Chair Jeff Brown, followed by instructions from Trustee Allen Haywood before the 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The tournament concluded with a rare three-way tie. Each of the top teams finished with a score of 57, or 15 under par. Tournament officials used the regression method to determine the final standings.
First place and the Reynolds Lake Oconee golf package were awarded to the First State Bank team of Drew Cooper, Joey Kaney, Randy Johnson and Don Wren.
Second place and a $100 cash prize for each team member went to the Southern Company/Georgia Power of Dublin team of Casey Woods, Matthew Waller, Tyler Rhodes and Kyle Hammock.
Third place and a $75 cash prize for each team member went to Team McCaskill, represented by Samuel McCaskill, Max Corder, Jackson Smith and Walker Smith.
“The day before the event, the forecast called for thunder, lightning and heavy rain — certainly not ideal conditions for a golf tournament,” said Kathy Aaron, executive director of the OFTC Foundation. “Fortunately, the weather cleared, and we enjoyed a wonderful day on the course. We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our community. The success of this event directly impacts the scholarship recipients the Foundation serves, and that means so much to our students and their families.”
The OFTC Foundation extends its appreciation to all golfers, sponsors, volunteers and supporters who helped make this year’s tournament a success. Their generosity and participation continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of OFTC students.
