Joey C. Barrett Named OFTC’s Newest BOD Member

The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Board of Directors (BOD) inducted Joey C. Barrett of Laurens County as its newest member during a Sandersville meeting, Thursday, August 28.

Barrett was sworn in by Judge Russell Sheppard, Washington County Probate Judge

Although governed by the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), OFTC’s local board of directors plays an important role in accomplishing the mission of the College while working in concert with the State Board.

The purpose of the local board is to facilitate the delivery of programs, services, and activities as directed by the State Board of the TCSG. They also advise the President and State Board of local industry and community needs for the programs and services provided by the technical college, and advocate within the community and the state on issues of importance in support of workforce development efforts.

Barrett currently serves as Area Manager for Georgia Power for Laurens, Dodge, Telfair, Wheeler,

Montgomery, Toombs, Johnson, Jeff Davis, and Appling Counties. He also sits as Chairman of the Dublin-Laurens County Chamber Community and Workforce Foundation.

During the meeting, Latonya Goodwin, who recently retired as the Board of Directors representative for Hancock County, was recognized for her service.
