Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) President Erica Harden has announced her retirement effective Aug. 1, 2026, concluding a distinguished 36-year career in technical education marked by leadership, service and a steadfast commitment to student success.

Harden has served as president of OFTC since 2019, leading the college through a period of continued growth, workforce development expansion and strengthened partnerships throughout the region.

Under Harden’s tenure as president, OFTC’s credit enrollment increased by 40% with the college reaching the highest enrollment in its history Fall Semester 2025 with 2,339 students enrolled.

Additionally, the college saw the addition of a new instructional center in Sandersville, a new truck driving range in Dublin, and a 19-million-dollar renovation in the W.R. Stewart Building in Dublin (to open Fall Semester 2026). The college will begin construction on a new diesel equipment technology lab in Sandersville in 2026. New programs were added during her presidency including an associate of science degree in nursing, a diagnostic medical sonography degree, a construction management degree, and an associate of science degree in education.

“Serving as the President of OFTC has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life,” Harden said. “This college is truly a jewel in our community, serving not just as an educational institution, but as a vital engine for local workforce development and personal transformation.”

“As I prepare to retire after over 36 years in technical education, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the unwavering support you have shown both to me and to OFTC,” she added. “I ask that you continue that same spirit of partnership and dedication for the college and its new leadership; together, we ensure that OFTC remains a cornerstone of opportunity for generations to come.”

Harden’s career within the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) spans decades of progressive leadership roles. Prior to serving as president, she held several leadership positions at Sandersville Technical College, including executive director of student affairs, vice president of student affairs and vice president of academic and student affairs. She also played a key role in the merger that formed OFTC and later served as vice president of academic and student affairs and executive vice president for the newly established institution.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Harden began her career in technical education as director of public relations and marketing at Southeastern Technical College before continuing in leadership roles at Aiken Technical College in S.C.

During her time as president, Harden championed workforce development initiatives, strengthened relationships with business and industry partners and worked to expand educational pathways that prepare students for high-demand careers across the region.

“Throughout her tenure, Erica has been a tireless advocate for students and a champion of the life-changing impact of technical education,” said Greg Dozier, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia.

As she prepares for retirement, Harden leaves behind a legacy rooted in student achievement, institutional growth and a deep belief in the transformative power of technical education.

“As president, Erica’s outstanding leadership and strategic vision have made a substantial impact on OFTC,” added Eric Smith, Chair of OFTC’s Board of Directors. “Her dedication to developing a highly skilled workforce has provided significant value to our business and industry partners while having a positive effect on our communities. She has demonstrated notable skill in leading the college while building strong relationships and showing consistent support for both staff and students. We extend our best wishes for continued success in her retirement.”

The college will honor Harden’s career with a retirement celebration in July.
