Terrall Keith always looked up to his older brother, a truck driver with over a decade of experience. When the opportunity came to earn his own Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Keith saw it as a chance to follow in his brother’s footsteps—and to build a stronger future for his family.

At the time, Terrall was working for a local residential waste company and had a coworker who had completed the Commercial Truck Driving (CTD) program at Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC).

“He had great things to say about his experience, so I knew I wanted to give OFTC a try,” Keith said. “I saw this as an opportunity to provide for my three amazing kids, and I felt like Jesus was directing me to do this.”

CTD Experience

Keith enrolled in OFTC’s 9-week CTD program in November and quickly found it to be the right fit. He appreciated the program’s affordable tuition and flexible schedule, which allowed him to continue working while pursuing his CDL.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect at first,” he admitted. “But it turned into a wonderful experience. I met a great instructor who helped me and encouraged me to keep going and reach my goal.”

Keith emphasized how valuable the hands-on instruction was. “They’re really hands-on and genuinely care about their students,” he said. “I felt their support every step of the way.”

“My instructor made it fun and easy to master the maneuvers I needed to succeed,” he added. “The knowledge I gained is something I’ll carry with me throughout my career.”

A Future on Wheels

By the end of the program, Keith had successfully passed his Georgia Driver’s Exam and earned his CDL.

“I knew I was prepared,” he said. “OFTC’s training was thorough and safety-focused, which gave me real confidence going into the exam.”

After graduating, Keith was promoted to a driver position at his company.

“OFTC set me up for success—not just in my current job, but in how I approach driving overall,” he said. “I’m more aware and make better driving decisions because of my training.”

Keith encourages others who may be considering the CTD program: “Don’t hesitate—just go for it. If you’re willing to put in the work, OFTC will help you get there.”
