What Are Nontraditional Careers?

Nontraditional careers are occupations where one gender makes up less than 25% of the workforce. Examples include women in Automotive, Welding, Construction, and Criminal Justice, and men in Nursing and Early Childhood Education.

At OFTC, we believe career paths shouldn’t be limited by gender. By encouraging students to explore nontraditional fields, we help break stereotypes, open doors to new opportunities, and empower students to pursue the careers they’re passionate about.

OFTC offers support services to help special population students—including those pursuing nontraditional programs—overcome barriers and succeed in both school and their future careers.
