Integrated Education and Training (IET)
Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs are designed to help adults build the skills they need for today’s job market — including basic education, job-specific skills, and workplace readiness. These programs combine adult education with hands-on job training, so students learn both academic content and real-world skills at the same time.
In Georgia, all adult education providers that receive AEFLA funding must offer IET programs throughout the year. What does “Adult Education and Literacy Activities” include?
According to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), adult education and literacy activities can include:
- Basic adult education and literacy
- Workplace education
- Family literacy
- English language learning
- Civics education
- Job readiness training
- Integrated education and training (IET)
IET services must be delivered at the same time and in connection with each other, meaning that:
- Education and job training happen together
- Instruction is focused, high-quality, and based on proven methods
- Teaching materials relate directly to the career or job being trained for
Workplace Literacy (WPL)
Workplace Literacy programs are created in partnership with employers to help employees improve their skills directly on the job or at a nearby location. These programs aim to increase productivity, job performance, and career advancement by offering targeted training in reading, writing, math, and communication skills relevant to the workplace.
