After years of working with the Department of Family and Children Services, Vallie Shapel Credle found herself ready for more. Organized, tech-savvy, and motivated to advance her career, she turned to Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) Business Technology Degree program.

Credle was familiar with the College’s positive reputation and felt it would be the right place to accomplish her goals. In addition to preparing for advancement opportunities, she wanted to gain the skills needed to one day start her own fashion and design business.

“I decided to continue my education at OFTC because of its reputation for hands-on training, flexible programs, and dedicated instructors,” Credle said. “The college offered the skills and support I needed to move forward in my career.”

Business Technology

While continuing to work full time, Credle embraced the challenge of balancing school with other responsibilities. Though the added commitment is challenging, she said the experience has been well worth it.

“My experience in the program has been both challenging and rewarding,” Credle said. “Through hands-on assignments and supportive instruction, I’ve gained valuable skills in business technology and feel confident I’ll be prepared for a successful career.”

Credle said she especially values the practical nature of the coursework and the supportive environment at OFTC.

“I love how useful the lessons are for real jobs,” she said. “Between the hands-on assignments and encouraging instructors, I feel supported, motivated and confident that I’m on the right path.”

She added that the real-world application of what she’s learning has strengthened her skills and reinforced her decision to return to school.

“The hands-on experience has been very valuable,” Credle said. “I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned in real-world scenarios, which has helped prepare me to advance my career in business technology.”

Looking Ahead

As Credle builds her skills in the classroom, she’s already looking toward the future. With two semesters remaining in OFTC’s Business Technology program, she’s preparing not only for career advancement, but for her long-term goal of launching her own business.

“OFTC provides an excellent learning environment where students are encouraged to grow and succeed,” Credle said. “I’ve gained important business and technology skills, guidance from supportive instructors, and hands-on experience that’s helped me feel confident in my abilities.”

Reflecting on her journey, Credle said OFTC’s career-focused approach has made a lasting impact.

“OFTC has given me the skills and confidence I need to succeed in my career and pursue my goal of starting my business,” she said. “The instructors are knowledgeable and approachable, and the focus on real-world skills makes learning meaningful and effective.”
