Dublin, Ga., (OFTC) –Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) hosted a pinning ceremony for their inaugural cohort of Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Degree graduates, Tuesday, May, 6

OFTC’s four semester ASN degree program started in 2024 and is offered to students who desire to become Registered Nurses (RN).

Twenty-seven ASN graduates received nursing pins, signifying their completion of the educational requirements to apply and take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

“We would like to extend our congratulations to this wonderful group of graduates who have contributed to the history of Oconee Fall Line Technical College as its very first graduating class of Traditional ASN students,” shared Jodi Warren, OFTC’s Director of Nursing. “It has been a pleasure to witness their dedication, hard work and growth culminating in this milestone. We look forward to working alongside them and welcoming them into the nursing family!”

“We know that they will be a wonderful representation of the college and its ASN program and will positively impact the lives of many throughout their careers,” she added.

The tradition of the pinning ceremony dates to the Crusades when members of the Knight Hospitallers were honored with Maltese crosses after caring for wounded soldiers. Then in the 1860’s Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, continued the tradition when she decided all nursing students who completed nursing training deserved recognition.

During the ceremony each student received their nursing pin, officially welcoming them into the RN family.
