Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) students, Gloria Werner (Laurens), Logan Acree (Laurens), Brittany Coney (Laurens), Mallory Hodges (Washington), and Nkosi Johnson (Washington), garnered bronze medals during the 2026 SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference held in Atlanta on Friday, February 20.

These students are currently enrolled in OFTC’s Radiologic Technology program on the Dublin Campus.

According to the SkillsUSA website, the state Leadership & Skills Conference gives students the opportunity to put their technical skills to the test in over 70 career competitions and sharpen their workplace and technical skills in leadership training.

Werner participated in the Medical Terminology Competition which evaluates the knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations used by an individual preparing for employment in health occupations fields.

Acree, Coney, Hodges, and Johnson participated in the Health Knowledge Bowl which tests teams of students on their collective knowledge within the healthcare system. Teams are judged on accuracy of answering questions in a variety of categories including anatomy and physiology; medical terminology; healthcare procedures; healthcare systems; employability skills; legal responsibility; ethics; safety practices; current events related to healthcare; communication and teamwork.

“We are so proud of the dedication and determination our students showed at the SkillsUSA State Conference,” shared Saketta Brown, OFTC’s Director of Student Affairs. “Their achievement speaks to the hard work they put into developing their knowledge and skills each day in their program. Watching them represent OFTC with confidence and professionalism is truly rewarding, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the healthcare field.”

Werner and Acree also participated in the SkillsUSA Goosechase challenge, an interactive, app-based scavenger hunt designed to test Career & Technical Education (CTE) skills, teamwork, and creativity through photo, video, and text-based missions, and placed third.
