OFTC Foundation, Inc. Announces Summer 2026 Scholarship Recipients

The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Foundation, Inc. has awarded scholarships to several students for the 2026 summer semester. These scholarships, made possible through the generosity of donors and community partners, provide financial support that helps students pursue their education and reach their career goals.

Randy Helton Family Scholarship

Samerian Pitts was selected as the recipient of the Randy Helton Family Scholarship for the 2026 summer semester. Pitts is enrolled in OFTC’s Practical Nursing program on the Dublin Campus and resides in Macon. This scholarship is made possible by donations from Foundation Trustee Randy Helton and his family.

Hancock Strong Allied Health Scholarship

Kiara Starks was selected as a recipient of the Hancock Strong General Scholarship for the 2026 summer semester. Starks is enrolled in the business management program on OFTC’s Sandersville Campus and is from Sparta. This scholarship is made possible by generous donations from an anonymous donor with deep ties to Hancock County and wants to see it flourish again.

Charles Douglas (Doug) Brownlee Memorial Scholarships

Six OFTC Electronics Technology students were selected as recipients of the Charles Douglas (Doug) Brownlee Memorial Scholarship for the 2026 summer semester.

The scholarship recipients are Ian Anderson (Dublin), Johnathan Crutchfield (Danville), Loran Hasty (Dublin), Martavis Sanders (East Dublin), Romello Samuel Smith (McRae-Helena), and Jermane Stanley (East Dublin).

These scholarships were made possible through the generosity of Doug Brownlee’s family, lifelong friends, and business associates, who established the scholarship to honor his memory in a meaningful and lasting way.

Doug was a graduate of OFTC’s Electronics program and was employed by Mullis Electric. Tragically, he lost his life in an accident during Hurricane Helene. Those who knew Doug remember him as a gentle soul and one of the most skilled and professional electronics technicians they’ve ever worked with. Friends often said that if no one else could solve an electrical or electronics problem, Doug was the person to call.

The OFTC Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Doug Brownlee’s family, friends, and business associates for creating this scholarship. Their generosity not only preserves Doug’s legacy but also provides opportunities for future electronics students to pursue their education and careers.
