Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) earned second place in the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) Fix Fest: Master Accessibility Edition, a one-day, systemwide competition focused on improving the accessibility of online course content.
Held on March 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Fix Fest challenged teams across the state to complete as many accessibility improvements as possible while achieving the greatest overall percentage of course enhancement. The event was designed to foster collaboration, build momentum, and help colleges prepare for the April 24 deadline set by the U.S. Department of Justice for accessibility compliance.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in hands-on work sessions, training opportunities, and drop-in Q&A support to strengthen their understanding of accessibility best practices and make meaningful updates to course materials.
“This event was about more than competition—it was about ensuring all students have equal access to educational content,” said Sherry Yearty, OFTC’s Director of Instruction and Blackboard Administrator. “We’re proud of the work our team accomplished in a single day and the impact it will have on our students moving forward.”
Fix Fest emphasized a spirit of friendly competition while reinforcing a shared commitment across TCSG institutions to create inclusive, accessible learning environments.
OFTC’s strong performance reflects the college’s ongoing dedication to student success and continuous improvement in digital accessibility.
