settings
Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) will host several guest speakers for various Black History Month student events across its campuses in February.
These events will reflect on the rich history, culture, and contributions of the African American community.
- Students attending OFTC’s Jefferson County Center will hear from Dr. Derrick Standifer on Thursday, February 12. Standifer is a nationally recognized youth motivational speaker known for his high-energy, inspiring message Life is Like a Rubik’s Cube. Through his powerful personal journey—from college dropout to Ph.D.—he has motivated more than 20,000 students, educators, and parents to navigate life’s twists and turns with purpose and resilience.
- The Sandersville Campus will host keynote speaker, Mr. Reggie Kee, on Tuesday, February 17. Kee, also known as Reggie Legend, is an author, itinerant minister, and motivational speaker who empowers youth to recognize and advocate for their non-academic genius. Through trauma-informed workshops rooted in his Common Genius, Uncommon Destiny framework, he helps students connect passion, talent, and purpose to unlock their potential.
- Students on the Dublin Campus will gather on Wednesday, February 18 to listen to Mr. Demetrius M. Smith, a Georgia native and higher education professional with more than 25 years of experience in student affairs, youth advocacy, and community engagement. He currently serves as a Community Outreach Specialist with the FBI Atlanta Field Office, where he builds partnerships with schools, nonprofits, faith-based, and civic organizations across the state.
