OFTC — In just nine weeks, Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Commercial Truck Driving (CTD) students earned their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), opening the door to immediate employment in Georgia’s thriving transportation industry.

For some, this was their first credential from OFTC; others returned to add valuable skills and boost their employability.

Truck drivers keep Georgia moving — delivering raw materials, finished goods, and everything in between. Today, OFTC’s CTD graduates are part of that essential workforce.

Whether transporting materials for local industries or driving long-haul routes, their training at OFTC gave them the foundation for rewarding careers.

“Our CTD graduates prove that a short-term program can have a long-term impact,” said OFTC President, Erica Harden. “Workforce development is our mission and we’re proud to play a role in not only strengthening our local workforce but also helping students build brighter futures for themselves and their families.”

Here’s a look at where some of our graduates are today:

Richie Coulter, C/O 2025
Position: Driller, Imerys

“OFTC gave me the hands-on skills to prepare me for the workforce. The instructors were great and went above and beyond to help their students and really worked hard to create a family atmosphere within their program.”

Fred Walker, C/O 2023
Position: Truck Mechanic, Howard Sheppard

“During my time at OFTC I learned the importance of the huge role truck drivers play in today’s world. Most importantly I enjoyed class time, getting to hit the road and watching my classmates get better day by day. I can say OFTC has prepared me with all the skills necessary to properly handle a commercial vehicle to the best of my ability.”

Mark Caneega, C/O 2021
Position: Drilling Coordinator, Imerys

“I already had my Class-B Commercial Driver’s License when I came to OFTC,” Caneega said. “At Imerys, people were starting to retire who had a Class-A license and I knew if I wanted to pick up some additional responsibilities, like driving a lowboy truck, I would need to get a Class-A license of my own. I enrolled in OFTC’s CDL classes and had a great experience. I would highly recommend the college and this program. It made every aspect of CDL training for my job a lot less stressful.”
