OFTC –Autumn Johnson of Gibson has been named Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) 2025 Alumni of the Year.
Johnson began her journey at OFTC in 2014, completing the Nurse Aide program through dual enrollment while still in high school. She went on to graduate from the Practical Nursing program in 2016 and later advanced her career by completing the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Bridge program in 2019.
Today, Johnson serves as the Director of Nursing at Keysville Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Keysville, Ga.
“We’re proud to recognize Autumn as our 2025 Alumni of the Year,” shared OFTC President Erica Harden. “Her passion, perseverance, and impact in her field exemplify the values we strive to instill in all our students. Autumn’s achievements make a lasting difference in our community, and we are honored to celebrate her success.”
Autumn’s Journey
After graduating with her associate degree in nursing, Johnson worked as a charge nurse in both long-term care and emergency room settings. Realizing her heart was in long-term care, she transitioned into her current role at Keysville.
“I enjoy making a difference in people’s lives—residents, families, and staff alike,” Johnson said. “Some residents rehabilitate and return home, while for others, this becomes their final home. Being able to support them through those different stages is incredibly meaningful.”
Looking back, Johnson credits OFTC for giving her the foundation and confidence to step into the nursing field fully prepared.
“OFTC has a small-town feel that made me feel supported and valued,” she said. “The instructors shared real-life experiences, held us to professional standards, and corrected us when needed. That mix of accountability and mentorship gave me the confidence to step into the nursing field ready to contribute from day one. Completing my CNA, LPN, and RN programs shaped me into a stronger nurse and leader.”
Johnson also emphasizes how her hands-on experience at OFTC helps her lead her team effectively today. “I understand the responsibilities of my staff because I’ve done those roles myself. Earning new letters behind my name didn’t take away any job duties—it gave me the ability to do more. My journey shows that with hard work, support, and the right training, you can build a successful career.”
Reflecting on being named Alumni of the Year, Johnson shared, “It’s an honor to be recognized as OFTC’s 2025 Alumni of the Year. OFTC has been such an important part of my journey, and this recognition feels like a full-circle moment. It represents the dedication I put into my education and the hard work I’ve carried into my career.”
