William Fuller Named OFTC’s 2024 EAGLE Winner

OFTC 2er024 Eagle Winner

OFTC – William Fuller of Eastman, Ga., was recently chosen as Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) 2024 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) winner and will represent the College at the EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta in March.

Fuller obtained his high school equivalency from OFTC in June of 2023 and is currently enrolled in Air Conditioning Technology classes on the Dublin Campus.

Each year, adult education teachers in public, private and grantee agencies nominate students at the local program level to participate in the EAGLE recognition program at the state level; nominees are chosen based on character, attitude, attendance, leadership and community involvement and activities. Nominees are required to give a written speech in front of a panel of judges and sit through an interview process.

EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.

“William is a very dedicated student and is working hard to achieve his goal of becoming an HVAC technician,” shared OFTC’s Dean of Adult Education, Demme McManus. “We are proud to have William represent our program in the state competition.”

“He is a very focused and determined young man,” added OFTC Adult Education instructor, Martin Brock. “He’s determined not to allow the circumstances of life to dictate his outcome and we commend him for what he has accomplished.”

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) through its Office of Adult Education (OAE) sponsors the annual EAGLE Leadership Institute.
