Dr. Frederick Williams Slated as Speaker for OFTC’s 2024 Spring Commencement & HSE Graduation

OFTC – Dr. Frederick Williams, Superintendent for Dublin City Schools, is slated to speak at Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) 2024 Spring Commencement Ceremony and High School Equivalency Graduation held on the College’s Dublin Campus, Thursday, June 13.

Williams has been the superintendent for Dublin City Schools since 2015.

With the strategic plan as his guidepost, Williams is committed to preparing “all students to be effective communicators, problem solvers and lifelong learners.” He believes in high achievement and success for all students, and under his leadership, the high school graduation rate has increased by 27.4 points to an impressive 97.7%.

As superintendent, Williams has ensured Dublin City Schools embraces its charter flexibility, with the district carrying out several innovative practices like the development of the Irish Gifted Academy, a salary schedule independent of the state, a community initiative specifically geared toward connecting young families to school resources before their child begins Pre-K called ‘Baby Irish,’ and an expanded mental health initiative called ‘Be Well.’

For this, Dublin City Schools was named Georgia’s Charter System of the Year in 2019 and received the Charter System Foundation’s Leadership Development Award in 2023.

A community-minded leader through and through, Dr. Williams is also Chairman of the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority, pastor of Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and serves on the Charter System Foundation Board of Directors.

Williams is the 2024 Georgia Superintendent of the Year and was one of the four finalists for the 2024 National Superintendent of the Year.

In 2023, Williams became the first recipient of the Georgia School Superintendents Association’s Marvin E. Lewis Sr. Trailblazer Award and was awarded Cognia’s prestigious Excellence in Education Award.

He is married to Melissa Williams, and they are the proud parents of three Dublin High School graduates: Whitley, Frederick II, and Gracelyn. In September 2022, he became a first-time grandpa, joyfully welcoming his grandson, Carter Grayson Williams, to the family.

OFTC’s Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony and HSE Graduation will take place on the College’s Dublin Campus in the Dubose Porter Business & Industry Training Center, starting at 7pm.
