OFTC Foundation, Inc. Announces 2024 High School Graduate Scholarship Recipients 

OFTC – The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Foundation Inc. recently announced their 2024 high school graduate scholarship recipients. 

Brandon T. Lawrence Scholarship 

Ashanti Edwards of Alamo has been selected as the recipient of the for 2024. Edwards is a 2024 graduate of Wheeler County High School and plans to enroll in the nursing program at OFTC. 

This scholarship is given in memory of Brandon Timothy Lawrence, age 15, who lost his life on February 6, 2004 in a car accident. Brandon was a student in the Wheeler County School System. Because of Brandon’s zest for life, high academic achievements, and love of people, his family established the scholarship in his memory. The purpose of the scholarship is to award a student from Brandon’s high school who has a genuine desire to complete a diploma or degree in technical education through attaining academic excellence, while exhibiting outstanding moral character and a determination to succeed in life.

The presentation was made by Staci Benson, Brandon Lawrence’s mom.

Dr. Jaroy & Elysea Stuckey Scholarship 

Shaniya Denison of Dublin is the recipient of the Dr. Jaroy & Elysea Stuckey Scholarship. A 2024 graduate of Dublin High School, Denison plans to enroll in the nursing program at OFTC.  

The scholarship is given in memory of Dr. Jaroy Stuckey, his wife Elysea, son A.J., and unborn child who were killed in a tragic automobile accident March 14, 2021. Dr. Stuckey was the serving principal at Dublin High School and an avid supporter of OFTC’s Dual Enrollment program for many years. Elysea Stuckey was a graduate of OFTC’s Cosmetology Program. This scholarship awards financial assistance to a student from Dublin High School who participated in the Dual Enrollment Program and wants to complete a program of study at OFTC after high school.
