OFTC established their first-ever on-campus police department in July and state law requires all new Chiefs of Police or Chief Executives of law enforcement agencies to attend and successfully complete the 60-hour program.

“We’re proud of Marc and his success in this training program,” shared OFTC president, Erica Harden. “We know that he is trained and equipped to provide the best leadership and direction for our police department, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact his leadership will have on our campus and community”

The course is designed to provide attendees with the information needed to be successful as a new police chief in the State of Georgia and includes topics like, role and office of the chief, the hiring process, budgeting, political realities, community relationships, policy management, human resources, leadership, managerial liability, evaluating performance, risk management, data collection and usage, open records, media relations, social media, training management, and conflict resolution.

Subjects are taught by subject matter experts, including current and former current chiefs of police.
