OFTC’s Largest Graduating Class Honored with 2024 Spring Commencement & HSE Ceremony
OFTC – More than 170 Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) credit and High School Equivalency (HSE) graduates were honored during the College’s 2024 Spring Commencement Ceremony & HSE Graduation held on the Dublin Campus, Thursday, June 13.
This was the largest graduating class in the college’s 13-year history.
Graduates received degrees, diplomas and technical certificates of credit in a variety of high-demand fields like Early Childhood Care and Education, Respiratory Care, Industrial Systems, Electrical Control, Cybersecurity, Medical Assisting, and more. Some graduates received high school equivalency diplomas.
“We cannot tell you enough how excited we are to watch you walk across the stage to receive your credential tonight,” shared OFTC President Erica Harden as she addressed the graduates. “Your hard work, determination, and perseverance is the reason you are here today and it’s inspiring.”
“We are so very proud of you,” she added. “As you leave here this evening, ready to turn your dreams into reality, I hope you never lose your passion and dedication to succeed.”
“Always remember OFTC is here for you,” she said. “You are a part of our family, and we love you dearly.”
Dr. Frederick Williams, Superintendent for Dublin City Schools served as keynote speaker and addressed the graduates, celebrating their accomplishments and achievements.
“Graduates, as you reflect on your journey at OFTC, I’m sure you can recall the challenges you’ve faced, the obstacles you’ve overcome, and the triumph you’ve seen,” Williams said. “But you have remained steadfast in your commitment to learning and are stronger, wiser, and more resilient than ever.”
“Today marks a new chapter in your life,” he said. “Your diploma is a passport to your next journey in life.”
Williams challenged the graduates to keep the following points in mind as they move ahead.
Prioritize with Purpose, Listen and Learn, Stay Positive, Never stop Learning, Embrace Grit and Lead with Respect.
“As you move forward on your journey,” he added, “remember the road ahead will not be easy. Embrace challenges as opportunity for growth and never lose sight of your opportunity to make a difference in the world.”
“Congratulations on your remarkable achievements,” Williams said. “I commend you on your ability to stick to the task. Remember the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained here has prepared you to succeed at whatever path you choose in this life.”
