OFTC’s Jacqueline Barnes Named a Top 8 Finalist for TCSG’s State EAGLE Program

Jacqueline Barnes, OFTC's 2025 EAGLE winner

OFTC — Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) is pleased to announce that Jacqueline Barnes, the college’s 2025 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Program winner, has been selected as one of the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) top eight finalists.

The EAGLE Program, administered by the TCSG Office of Adult Education (OAE), recognizes the outstanding achievements of adult learners in Georgia who have demonstrated exceptional perseverance and success in their educational journeys. This prestigious program honors individuals who exhibit the courage to overcome challenges and inspire others with their dedication to learning.

Barnes has exemplified a commitment to education and personal growth throughout her time in OFTC’s Adult Education Program, shared OFTC’s Dean of Adult Education, Demme McManus. “We are so proud of Jacqueline and her success at OFTC, and we are honored to have her represent us in the state competition.”

Barnes will compete for the title of Georgia’s State EAGLE Winner during the 2025 Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Leadership Institute, March 3 – 5, in Atlanta. The event will bring together notable individuals, educators, and community leaders to celebrate the achievements of outstanding adult learners across the state.

The State EAGLE Winner, OAE’s Student of the Year, becomes the student ambassador for Georgia’s entire adult education program and receives a full two-year scholarship to the technical college of their choice.

Barnes graduated with her high school equivalency from OFTC in April of 2024, and is currently enrolled in Medical Assisting classes on the Dublin Campus.
