OFTC Foundation Awards Summer 2024 Scholarships
OFTC – The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Foundation recently awarded scholarships to OFTC students enrolled in the 2024 summer semester.
The Foundation exists to support students and programs at the college. One way this is accomplished is through awarding scholarships each semester.
The following students received scholarships from the OFTC Foundation this summer.
General Scholarship
The OFTC Foundation awarded their General Scholarship for the 2024 summer semester to two students, Brianna Ellison, a respiratory care student from Washington County, and Lawanda Mills, an Associate Degree in Nursing Bridge Program student from Treutlen County. Both students attend class on OFTC’s Sandersville Campus.
Hancock Strong Allied Health Scholarship
Thanks to the continued generous donation of an anonymous donor from Hancock County, the OFTC Foundation awarded Hayley Introcaso the Hancock Strong Allied Health Scholarship for the summer 2024 semester. Introcaso is a resident of Hancock County and is enrolled in OFTC’s Practical Nursing program. After becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, Introcaso plans to continue her education and enroll in OFTC’s Associate Degree in Nursing Bridge Program to become a Registered Nurse.
Randy Helton Family Scholarship
Shantavia Haynes was recently named recipient of the summer 2024 semester Randy Helton Family Scholarship by the OFTC Foundation.
Haynes is a resident of Washington County and attends OFTC’s Sandersville Campus. She is enrolled in an Allied Health program with a goal of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse and a Registered Nurse through OFTC programs. Dedicated and determined to reach her goals Haynes’s class attendance and coursework reflect her commitment to her future career.
The Randy Helton Family Scholarship was established in 2019 by Trustees of the former OFTC Foundation North to honor long serving Trustee Randy Helton and his service to the college and the Foundation. Helton and his family continue to maintain funding for the scholarship.
Recipients of the scholarship must maintain a 3.0 GPA, submit an essay on why they chose OFTC, and must have a faculty recommendation.
“Shantavia is an amazing student who quit her job to attend classes and clinical rotation,” shared Kathy Aaron, Executive Director of the OFTC Foundation and member of the Helton family. “She has had to use her savings to pay for tuition and books and these funds will relieve some of that burden on her finances.”
“The OFTC Foundation would like to congratulate Shantavia on her accomplishments and wishes her the very best in her career,” she added.
Sodmasters Turf Grass Farm Scholarships
OFTC Commercial Truck Driving (CTD) students Tmond Holmes (Eastman) and Jonathan Morua (McRae) were recently awarded the Sodmasters Turf Grass Farm Scholarship by the OFTC Foundation for the 2024 summer semester.
This scholarship is made possible by a donation from Sodmasters Turf Grass Farm for students enrolled in the CTD program at OFTC.
