Jacqueline Barnes Named OFTC’s 2025 EAGLE Winner
OFTC – Jacqueline Barnes of Dublin, Ga., was recently chosen as Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) 2025 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) winner and will represent the College at the EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta in March 2025.
Barnes obtained her high school equivalency from OFTC in April of 2024 and is currently enrolled in Medical Assisting classes on the Dublin Campus.
Each year, adult education teachers in public, private and grantee agencies nominate students at the local program level to participate in the EAGLE recognition program at the state level; nominees are chosen based on character, attitude, attendance, leadership and community involvement and activities. Nominees are required to give a written speech in front of a panel of judges and sit through an interview process.
EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.
“Jacqueline has been an excellent student,” shared OFTC Adult Education instructor, Martin Brock. “In class she always asked a lot of questions and made time to assist other students. I’ve seen her confidence level rise tremendously during her time in OFTC’s Adult Education program and I know she will represent us well.”
The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) through its Office of Adult Education (OAE) sponsors the annual EAGLE Leadership Institute.
