Emily Lloyd Named OFTC’s 2025 Adult Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year

OFTC –Emily Lloyd was recently named Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) 2025 Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year. 

Lloyd is a resident of Bleckley County and has been serving OFTC students in Bleckley and Dodge Counties since 2017.  

She genuinely cares for her students and views her role in the classroom as an encourager and motivator, helping her students reach their dreams, no matter where they are in life.  

“When I think about what adult education means to me,” Lloyd shared, “it’s the path that has allowed students to reclaim control over their future. It also means fostering a sense of lifelong learning.” 

“Many adults feel that once they’ve reached a certain age, their learning days are behind them,” she said. “Part of my role is to remind them that learning is a lifelong journey, one that doesn’t have an expiration date.” 

Demme McManus, Dean of OFTC’s Adult Education program said Lloyd adds value to the college’s Adult Ed team through her dedication to the students, her commitment to the profession, and her willingness to connect with and build genuine relationships with students.  

“Emily consistently prepares lessons that engage students and ensures mastery of skills,” she shared. “She truly represents what an adult education instructor should be, and we are so proud to have her represent our team.” 

The OTOY is designed to recognize and honor the most outstanding adult education teachers who make significant contributions to the field through instruction, innovation, and leadership. It exemplifies excellence and has a deep commitment to the mission of the Technical College System of Georgia Office of Adult Education. 

OFTC’s Adult Education program provides basic skills instruction through free classes to help students obtain their high school equivalency through the GED and HiSET Exams. With locations in 11 counties, flexible class schedules and day, evening, and online class options, OFTC truly works with students to accomplish their goals and better their futures.
