Collin Sellers Builds Thriving Career in Hair & Beauty Industry

OFTC –At the age of 12, Collin Sellers discovered his passion for cosmetology. The artistry of hair and makeup captivated him completely, and he knew it was more than just a passing interest—it was a part of who he was.
“Although I initially perused a different degree in college, life’s unexpected twists led me to reevaluate my path,” Sellers shared.
He enrolled in Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) Cosmetology program and it was clear from day one that Sellars had finally found his calling.
“I fell in love with the artistry from day one,” he said.
Finding His Passion
Sellers was familiar with OFTC and knew of the cosmetology program’s outstanding reputation; he says making the choice to attend OFTC for his training was an easy one.
“The supportive atmosphere at OFTC and their excellent reputation provided the ideal environment for launching my career,” Sellers said. “It was an easy decision to pursue my passion there.”
Looking back, Sellers says his time at OFTC is what he considers the launchpad for his career.
“The hands-on training and rigorous preparation for the State Board Licensing Exams instilled in me the confidence and skills I needed to excel,” he said. “Regular practice tests and real-world simulations ensured I was fully prepared, and that foundation has been instrumental to my professional growth.”
One of the aspects of the program that really excited Sellers was the freedom and flexibility to earn his required salon hours at an accelerated pace. “This not only deepened my practical skills, but fueled my passion for the industry,” he said.
“My experience at OFTC was nothing short of transformative,” he added. “It left an indelible mark on my professional journey, and I wholeheartedly recommend OFTC’s Cosmetology program to anyone who is passionate about beauty and eager to learn.”
Beyond the Salon
Sellers graduated from OFTC’s cosmetology program in the spring of 2018 and became a licensed Master Cosmetologist in June of the same year. He returned the following semester and earned his associate’s degree in business management and accounting in 2019.

He started working for J. Keyton Salon in Dublin the same year as a Salon Assistant and quickly advanced to the role of Salon Manager and is currently responsible for managing business transactions, overseeing receptionist duties, and working behind the chair.
“Jason has opened so many doors for my career, and I will forever be grateful for all that he has done for me,” Sellers said.
In addition to his role at the salon, Sellers also works as an educator for Keune Haircosmetics, a third-generation family-owned global company that sources high quality color, care, styling, and grooming products.
“After a rigorous selection process, including six-weeks of detailed product education and four days of intensive facilitation training, I was honored to join the team,” he shared. “Now, I travel the country, sharing foundation knowledge, advanced cutting and coloring techniques, and the latest trends with stylists at all levels.”
“This role has been incredibly rewarding and continually inspires me to innovate within the industry,” Sellers added.
Sellers’ passion for this industry extends far beyond the salon and classroom. His dedication to education and innovation has led him to incredible opportunities—including the chance to work backstage at New York Fashion Week.
“I was invited by a friend to join a gifted team of stylists for two shows,” Sellers shared. “Collaborating with production teams, designers, makeup artists and nail technicians, we crafted complete and stunning looks. This experience not only broadened my professional horizons but also deepened my love and respect for the art of cosmetology.”
Turning Dreams into Reality
Sellers is living proof that hard work and passion can turn dreams into reality—only in his case, reality has exceeded even his biggest dreams. Now, he hopes to inspire others to take that first step toward their own success.
“I encourage anyone with a passion for hair to go for it,” he said. “If you’re willing to put in the work, the opportunities are truly endless.”
Looking back, Sellers credits OFTC as the foundation that helped launch his career.
“My time at OFTC was truly transformative, opening doors to experiences and achievements I once only imagined,” he shared.
